Congresswoman Jen Kiggans, representing Virginia’s 2nd district since 2023, has recently shared her views and legislative efforts through a series of tweets. These posts reflect her focus on workforce issues, energy policy, and historical commemoration.
On June 5, 2025, Kiggans addressed the issue of workforce shortages and rising housing costs by introducing a new legislative measure. She stated, “With workforce shortages and housing costs on the rise, it’s time we get serious about practical fixes. I am proud to introduce the Defense Shipyard Workforce Housing Act of 2025— a bipartisan bill to explore on-site housing solutions for the skilled civilians who keep our Navy’s”.
The following day, June 6, 2025, Kiggans turned her attention to energy policy. She expressed concern over clean energy tax credit provisions that could impact significant projects and jobs in America. In her tweet, she mentioned her collaborative efforts with colleagues to address these concerns: “Reliable, affordable energy powers America—and the people who make it happen deserve certainty. I joined my colleagues in urging the Senate to address the clean energy tax credit provisions that threaten $14B in projects and American jobs.”
On June 7, 2025, Kiggans commemorated a pivotal moment in history—the Battle of Midway. She paid tribute to the courage displayed by American forces during this World War II battle: “They faced fire on open seas, knowing the odds were against them—but they never backed down. At Midway, American courage turned the tide of the war in the Pacific. Their sacrifice reshaped history. We live in the freedom they fought to defend.”
Jen Kiggans was born in Tampa, Florida in 1971 and currently resides in Virginia Beach. Before serving in Congress starting from 2023 after replacing Elaine Luria, she served in the Virginia Senate from 2020 to 2022. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Old Dominion University.
