Congresswoman Jen Kiggans, who represents Virginia’s 2nd district in the U.S. Congress, announced the introduction of new legislation aimed at preventing significant health care premium increases for Virginians. The announcement was made through a series of posts on her official X (formerly Twitter) account on September 4 and 5, 2025.
On September 4, Kiggans stated: “Today, I’m introducing the Bipartisan Premium Tax Credit Extension Act alongside @RepTomSuozzi. This legislation will protect Virginia families, seniors, and small business owners from massive health care premium increases.” She also mentioned support from Representatives Golden, Jeff Hurd, Bresnahan, and Young Kim.
The following day, she reiterated the bill’s purpose in another post: “My Bipartisan Premium Tax Credit Extension Act will protect Virginia families, seniors, and small business owners from massive health care premium increases.”
In addition to her legislative efforts on healthcare policy, Kiggans attended a military recognition event during the same week. On September 5 she wrote: “I was honored to attend the 2025 @MilitaryTimes Service Member of the Year Award Ceremony this week. Kiggans has represented Virginia’s 2nd congressional district since defeating Elaine Luria in 2023. Before her tenure in Congress beginning that year, she served in the Virginia Senate from 2020 to 2022. Born in Tampa, Florida in 1971 and now residing in Virginia Beach at age 51, Kiggans earned her BSN degree from Old Dominion University in 2011.
