Congresswoman Jen Kiggans, who represents Virginia’s 2nd district in the U.S. Congress, highlighted legislative efforts and recent meetings with community leaders in a series of tweets posted on July 27, 2025.
In her first post of the day, Kiggans promoted new legislation aimed at benefiting American workers. She wrote, “The One Big Beautiful Bill puts American workers first by: Eliminating most taxes on tips and overtime Making the 2017 tax cuts permanent and doubling the standard deduction Increasing the annual take-home-pay for a typical family of four by $10,900.” (July 27, 2025).
Later that afternoon, Kiggans thanked constituents and several groups for visiting her office in Washington. She stated, “Thank you to everyone who stopped by to visit us in Washington last week! We met with future military medical leaders from @USUhealthsci, the @AmericanLegion, the veteran advisory board from @JNJNews, @RocketLab CEO Peter Beck who does important work at NASA Wallops, and so many https://t.co/sNkVuUgiE4” (July 27, 2025).
In an evening tweet, Kiggans expressed appreciation for the trucking industry and referenced bipartisan legislative action. She said, “I’m thankful for the trucking industry and their reliable delivering of all the goods we all enjoy…! I’m proud of the work @RepChrisPappas and I did to introduce the Veterans’ Transition to Trucking Act to help streamline trucking apprenticeship programs for veterans. Read the” (July 27, 2025).
Kiggans has served as a member of Congress since replacing Elaine Luria in 2023. Before joining Congress, she was a member of the Virginia Senate from 2020 to 2022. Born in Tampa, Florida in 1971 and currently residing in Virginia Beach, Kiggans earned her BSN from Old Dominion University in 2011.
