Congresswoman Jen Kiggans, who represents Virginia’s 2nd district in the U.S. Congress, has recently used her social media platform to highlight legislative priorities and her work on behalf of veterans.

On January 8, 2026, Kiggans announced her support for new legislation regarding redistricting: “I am proud to cosponsor @RepKiley’s bill to prohibit mid-decade redistricting nationwide. Our country doesn’t need this kind of division and disarray! It’s time to focus on important issues like healthcare and affordability.”

Later that day, she addressed efforts related to veterans’ benefits: “Reducing the backlog of veterans waiting for benefits is real progress that makes a tangible difference in the lives of those who served. We must keep working to shorten wait times, improve services, and honor our commitments to America’s heroes!”

In another post on January 8, Kiggans referenced her committee service: “I am proud to serve on the @HouseVetAffairs Committee to improve the lives and services of those that fought for our nation!”

Kiggans began serving in Congress in 2023 after replacing Elaine Luria as representative for Virginia’s 2nd district. Before her tenure in Congress, she served in the Virginia Senate from 2020 through 2022. Born in Tampa, Florida in 1971, Kiggans currently resides in Virginia Beach. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Old Dominion University.
