Congresswoman Jen Kiggans, who represents Virginia’s 2nd district in the U.S. Congress, recently used her social media platform to highlight local achievements and recognize community contributions.
On July 31, 2025, Kiggans marked National Intern Day by expressing gratitude for her team: “On #NationalInternDay, we celebrate our wonderful summer interns..! From D.C. to our District Office in Virginia Beach, thank you for all your hard work serving the people of VA-02..!”
Later that day, she congratulated graduates from a specialized workforce program in Danville: “Congratulations to the recent graduates at the Accelerated Training in Defense Manufacturing program in Danville, Virginia! It was a privilege to deliver your commencement address yesterday…! Excited for you to take the skilled trades knowledge you have gained and applying it to” (posted July 31, 2025).
Continuing her focus on workforce development, Kiggans posted on August 1, 2025 about visiting a training facility dedicated to defense manufacturing: “I visited the Accelerated Training in Defense Manufacturing campus where we are training future Navy ship builders! Whether it’s welding, manufacturing, or quality control, ATDM is preparing the next generation of America’s defense workforce. Thank you for investing in the”.
Kiggans has served as the representative for Virginia’s 2nd district since 2023 after succeeding Elaine Luria. She previously held office in the Virginia Senate from 2020 to 2022. Born in Tampa, Florida in 1971 and now residing in Virginia Beach, Kiggans holds a BSN from Old Dominion University earned in 2011.
