Congresswoman Jen Kiggans, who represents Virginia’s 2nd district in the U.S. Congress, recently highlighted her legislative efforts and community engagement through a series of posts on social media.
On July 18, 2025, Kiggans addressed support for educators by stating, “There is no such thing as a good school without good teachers. We must do more to support our nation’s educators, and ensuring their after-hours tutoring instruction is tax-free is a good place to start! That’s why I introduced the Teachers Utilizing Tutoring Opportunities for https://t.co/CbhTYabgQp”.
The following day, she acknowledged the work of her office interns and congratulated local graduates: “Our summer interns were hard at work this week..!! Together they were able to get over 6,000 congratulatory high school graduation letters printed, folded, stuffed, sealed, and sent out to #VA02’s Class of 2025…! Congrats again to the Class of 2025!! Look for your letters in https://t.co/WHozEvn1N3” (July 19).
Later that same day, Kiggans recognized emergency personnel with a message: “Hats off to our heroic first responders! Thank you for always putting service above self! https://t.co/to5zkUrF3u” (July 19).
Kiggans has represented Virginia’s 2nd District since taking office in 2023 after serving in the Virginia Senate from 2020 to 2022. She succeeded Elaine Luria as representative for the district. Born in Tampa in 1971 and now residing in Virginia Beach, Kiggans earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Old Dominion University in 2011.
