Congresswoman Jen Kiggans, who represents Virginia’s 2nd district in the U.S. Congress, recently addressed a range of legislative priorities on her social media account, focusing on strategic budget cuts, digital asset regulation, and military recruitment.
On July 17, 2025, Kiggans emphasized the importance of careful decision-making regarding federal budget reductions: “Cuts need to be made carefully and strategically, especially when the ramifications could impact the elderly or our veterans. I applaud @SecVetAffairs Collins for his leadership and ensuring that our servicemembers receive the care they need.”
Later that day, she expressed support for proposed legislation affecting digital assets: “I am looking forward to voting YES on @RepFrenchHill’s CLARITY Act! As more Americans invest their hard-earned money in digital assets like crypto, we need a market-based regulatory framework that will encourage innovation while providing safeguards for investors.”
In a subsequent post on July 17, 2025, Kiggans discussed military recruitment reforms included in this year’s National Defense Authorization Act: “We must ensure our military recruiters have the tools they need. This year’s National Defense Authorization Act will bolster recruitment by eliminating outdated medical barriers for service—encouraging more people to serve our country!”
Kiggans has served as a member of Congress since 2023 after succeeding Elaine Luria. She previously represented her community in the Virginia Senate from 2020 to 2022. Born in Tampa, Florida in 1971 and now residing in Virginia Beach at age 51, Kiggans is also an alumna of Old Dominion University with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing earned in 2011.
