Congresswoman Jen Kiggans, representing Virginia’s 2nd district since 2023, shared her views on various legislative and international matters through a series of tweets on July 10, 2025. Kiggans, who succeeded Elaine Luria in Congress and previously served in the Virginia Senate from 2020 to 2022, addressed issues ranging from trade relationships to tax legislation and international conflicts.

In a tweet posted at 1:00 PM UTC, Kiggans expressed her support for strengthening trade relationships with Southeast Asian allies. She stated that this deal is expected to significantly benefit American industries while challenging Communist China’s economic influence in the region.

Later that day, at 4:01 PM UTC, Kiggans announced her vote in favor of what she referred to as the “One Big Beautiful Bill.” This legislation aims to protect small businesses in Coastal Virginia from what she described as “the largest tax hike in American history.”

At 7:00 PM UTC, Kiggans commented on international security matters, particularly concerning Russia’s actions. She emphasized that a recent move would communicate to President Putin that his war of aggression is unacceptable. Drawing on her experience as a Navy veteran, she reiterated her belief that peace is achieved through strength.

Jen Kiggans was born in Tampa, Florida, in 1971 and currently resides in Virginia Beach. She graduated from Old Dominion University with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree in 2011.
