Congresswoman Jen Kiggans, who represents Virginia’s 2nd district in the U.S. Congress, has used her social media platform to discuss ongoing issues at the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) and highlight local agricultural industry meetings.
On August 1, 2025, Kiggans posted about her commitment to improving care for veterans, stating, “The status quo is not acceptable and we will continue to push the Department of Veterans Affairs to make improvements that lead to better care outcomes for our veterans. I look forward to working with @SecVetAffairs and his team to address these issues at the VA.”
Continuing on August 2, 2025, she referenced her background as a Navy veteran and nurse practitioner when discussing potential changes at the VA: “As a Navy veteran and a nurse practitioner, I know how important it is to provide consistent and high quality care to those who have served. Restructuring the VA can be positive, but only if it is done transparently with input from frontline workers and full oversight from”.

Kiggans has represented Virginia’s 2nd District since replacing Elaine Luria in 2023. She previously served in the Virginia Senate from 2020 through 2022. Born in Tampa, Florida in 1971 and now residing in Virginia Beach, Kiggans holds a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Old Dominion University.
