Congresswoman Jen Kiggans, who represents Virginia’s 2nd district in the U.S. House of Representatives, used her social media platform to communicate recent legislative actions and extend greetings to constituents between September 30 and October 1, 2025.
On September 30, Kiggans announced her position regarding ongoing budget negotiations in Congress: “I firmly believe we must keep the government operational and working for Virginia’s Second District and our country while we work to resolve the broader spending issues. The following day, she addressed a partisan divide over federal spending measures, stating on October 1: “.@HouseGOP voted to keep the government open, but Democrats are blocking the spending bill. Why? Because they want to include $1.5 trillion in new partisan spending, including: Reimposing “free” taxpayer-funded health care for illegal aliens Keeping single, able-bodied”.
Later that same day, Kiggans posted a message recognizing Yom Kippur: “Wishing all who are observing Yom Kippur a meaningful day of reflection and an easy fast….”
Kiggans has represented Virginia’s 2nd congressional district since defeating former congresswoman Elaine Luria in 2023. Prior to serving in Congress, she was a member of the Virginia Senate from 2020 through 2022. Born in Tampa, Florida in 1971 and currently residing in Virginia Beach at age 51, Kiggans earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Old Dominion University in 2011.
