Congresswoman Jen Kiggans, who represents Virginia’s 2nd district in the U.S. Congress, addressed border security, military support, and servicemember housing conditions in a series of posts on July 16, 2025.
In her first post at 16:01 UTC, Kiggans stated: “A nation without borders is not a nation at all. Illegal border crossings are down, crime is down, and our country is safer.”
Later that day at 17:58 UTC, she commented on recent legislative developments impacting the military community: “This year’s National Defense Authorization Act delivers for our men and women in uniform and for the Hampton Roads region that supports them. As a Navy veteran, Navy spouse, proud Navy Mom, and representative of one of the most military-heavy districts in the country, I will”
At 20:00 UTC on July 16th, Kiggans addressed concerns about living conditions for servicemembers: “These conditions are unacceptable, especially for our servicemembers who sacrifice so much to defend our country. I’ll continue pushing Navy leadership and Liberty Military Housing to resolve this issue quickly so our men and women in uniform can return to safe and clean homes.”
Kiggans has represented Virginia’s 2nd district since 2023 after succeeding Elaine Luria. She previously served in the Virginia Senate from 2020 to 2022. Born in Tampa, Florida in 1971 and currently residing in Virginia Beach, Kiggans holds a BSN from Old Dominion University.
