The National Weather Service has issued an Excessive Heat Warning for Norfolk and the surrounding areas. The warning is in effect today until 8 p.m., replacing the previous Heat Advisory.

Cooling stations are available for residents seeking relief from the heat. The Norfolk Public Library’s anchor branches will be open to the public today. Richard A Tucker Library will operate from noon until 4 p.m., while the Downtown Branch at Slover, Jordan-Newby Anchor Branch at Broad Creek, and Mary D. Pretlow Anchor Branch will be open from noon until 8 p.m.
