Congresswoman Jen Kiggans, a representative of Virginia’s 2nd district and a Navy veteran, has shared several updates through her social media platform. Her recent tweets reflect her ongoing engagement with military-related events and issues.

On May 18, 2025, Kiggans expressed her support for military children by attending the opening of the Armed Services YMCA Child Development Center in Norfolk. She stated, “As a mother of four and Navy veteran, I understand the importance of caring for our military children. Last week, our team had the opportunity to attend the grand opening of the Armed Services YMCA Child Development Center in Norfolk! I’m grateful to the @asymca for improving”.

Later that day, Kiggans conveyed condolences following a tragic incident involving the Mexican naval training ship Cuauhtémoc in New York. She posted on May 18, 2025: “Our hearts are with the victims of the tragic incident in New York involving the Mexican naval training ship Cuauhtémoc. We are praying for the families of those who lost their lives, and for the full recovery of those injured. As a Navy veteran, I stand with our maritime”.

On May 19, 2025, Kiggans acknowledged her appreciation for an organization supporting military families and promoting national defense. In her tweet she mentioned: “I’m always grateful to the @NavyLeagueUS for the work they do in supporting military families and promoting a strong national defense…! The Sailor of the Year Recognition Dinner is an exceptional event to honor distinguished conduct in the U.S. Navy and I’m glad our staff was”.

Jen Kiggans has served in Congress since replacing Elaine Luria in 2023. Previously she served in Virginia’s Senate from 2020 to 2022. Born in Tampa, Florida in 1971, she resides in Virginia Beach after graduating from Old Dominion University with a BSN degree.
