The Transportation Toll Facility Advisory Committee (TTFAC) has scheduled a Citizen Information Meeting to discuss proposed increases in tolls and membership fees for the Chesapeake Expressway and Dominion Blvd Veterans Bridge. The meeting is set for Thursday, December 11, from 4:30 to 6:00 p.m. at the Chesapeake Central Library on Cedar Road.

Proposals include raising Discount Program membership fees and discounted peak-weekend toll rates for the Chesapeake Expressway starting May 1, 2026. Additionally, there are plans to extend the current toll schedule through 2046. For the Dominion Blvd Veterans Bridge, an increase in toll-by-plate rates for non-E-ZPass users is proposed beginning July 1, 2026, with an extension of its toll schedule through 2045.

Residents can provide feedback using comment sheets available at the meeting or by submitting comments online during a public comment period that will close 15 days after the event. Written comments must be postmarked, emailed, or delivered to the City of Chesapeake Expressway Administrative Office by November 19, 2025. Sandy Hodge can be contacted at shodge@cityofchesapeake.net or by phone at 757-382-2599 for more information about submitting comments.

Representatives from both the City of Chesapeake and TTFAC will attend to answer questions. After collecting public input, TTFAC will report recommendations to City Council.

According to the announcement: “The City of Chesapeake complies with Title VI and VII of the Civil Rights Act. To request accommodations for disabilities or sensory impairments, call 757-382-8951 at least three working days before the meeting.”

Further details about these proposals and how to participate are available on the Transportation Toll Facility Advisory Committee’s page on the City of Chesapeake website.
