Chesapeake Public Schools announced on Apr. 3 that it is inviting parents, staff, and community members to review proposed instructional materials for K-12 Mathematics and 6-12 English Language Arts as part of its ongoing textbook adoption process.

The school division said this initiative aims to ensure students have access to high-quality resources that support academic achievement. Community input is being sought to help select the most effective textbooks for classroom use.

Physical copies of the proposed textbooks are available for public examination at several local libraries throughout Chesapeake until Thursday, April 30, 2026. The libraries participating in this review process include Chesapeake Central Library, South Norfolk Memorial Library, Russell Memorial Library, and Major Hillard Library.

After reviewing the materials in person, individuals are encouraged to provide their feedback through online forms dedicated to both English Language Arts and Mathematics instructional materials. The deadline for submitting feedback is also April 30, 2026.

This process reflects the school division’s stated commitment “to providing our students with high-quality instructional materials that foster academic excellence.” The Division of Teaching and Learning oversees the adoption process as part of ongoing efforts to engage stakeholders in educational decisions.
