Chesapeake Public Schools has announced that all families must complete the online student verification process to review and update contact information for receiving important school and district notifications.

According to Chesapeake Public Schools, families are asked to use ParentVUE to review and update their contact information, ensuring schools and the district have accurate details for communications and emergency notifications. The verification process can be completed in a web browser or the ParentVUE mobile app by selecting “Online Registration & Verification” and then “Verification.” This step allows families to confirm their child’s primary phone number and update other essential contact information.

Parents and guardians are also requested to verify individuals authorized to pick up their child during emergencies, with a recommendation to list three to five contacts. They must ensure at least one primary phone number is on file so the school can reach them promptly in cases of emergencies, including school closures, delays, or urgent situations. To receive text message notifications, a mobile number must be designated as the primary contact. This step is critical to maintaining the safety and well-being of students.

The verification process includes consent options for media participation and the release of student information. Families can choose whether their child’s photo, work, or other information may be showcased on school or district social media, websites, yearbooks, or other publications, with options to opt out of specific directory requests. ParentVUE accounts that have not been activated can be set up using “Request Account Activation,” and passwords can be reset via the “Forgot Password” option. While the process is open year-round, families are encouraged to complete verification by September 30, 2025, to ensure all student information is current and complete.
